Greentherm combined cylinders are an excellent match for low temperature heat sources such as heat pumps and solar thermal. Inside the outer  buffer tank there is a high grade 316 stainless steel litre domestic hot water cylinder fully surrounded by the heating system water. This ensures extremely fast recovery time for domestic hot water without the need for extra high temperatures required with conventional thermal store and boiler systems. Connection to the heat source is straight forward and saves time as one direct flow and return connection to a boiler or heat pump serves all central heating and domestic hot water requirements. There is a heating coil in the outer tank for an additional heat source such as solar thermal. Solar thermal works well because during periods of low solar gain the low grade heat produced by the solar panels can contribute to the heating system and when there is increased solar gain any surplus heat energy not required by the domestic hot water cylinder can be used by the heating system. The energy savings are easy to see.
